“Suicidal ideation” 🔥

Updated: Jul 30, 2023

Hi guys it's Joe " Two blogs in 1 day!" I thought it would be good to talk about MENTAL HEALTH and also suicide seeing as there's a lot going on with the baton of hope . First off it's great that it's getting media exposure however there's a crucial thing NOT BEING SPOKEN ABOUT. Suicide isn't one thing it's something that Interwines . If someone is a NON alcoholic or a non drug taker ? But lost their own child to alcohol " weather it was by chocking on their own vomit 🤢 or other means then that person could end up depressed and drinking themselves to an early grave . The same can be said of someone who loses their soulmate and feels like ending their own life , the same can also be said about people who got in with the wrong crowd but feel too ashamed to get help and are shunned by their own family. People are carrying a baton of hope but not actually saying what needs to be done to prevent more people from dying . I used alcohol and drugs & grief as examples from those 3 things we could have someone take take own life . So 1 life but actually 3-4-5 causes basically a domino effect due to the emotional pain one feels at that moment in time. You don't get a lot of people putting money towards a just giving page for someone who died of a drug overdose, than you would if they committed suicide for no apparent reason , why? Stigma yet the stigma and thought provoking " actually common sense questions continue to be avoided . I used to think that people who commit suicide are selfish. The reason I always held that belief. And I still held that belief , until recently when I was in a bad place mentally, I happened to stumble across the work of the late " David Foster Wallace". I held the belief that people who commit suicide to lash out at people is the ultimate selfish act. My logic behind my this was as follows. Your loved ones and people that you want to spare the most ? Well it's logical to think that those same people would have to carry the burden of your suicide for the rest of their lives. However I went on to watch lectures and read the work of " David foster Wallace " This changed things for me " Wallace went on record with his own thoughts ( where I got the idea behind the photo for this blog) . He went on to say the following - The " so called" "psychotically depressed’ person who tries to kill themselves doesn’t do so out of ‘hopelessness’ or any abstract conviction that life’s assets and debits do not square. And surely not because death seems suddenly appealing. The person in whom Its invisible agony reaches a certain unendurable level will kill themselves just in the same way that a trapped person will eventually jump from the window of a burning high-rise block of flats. "Now" Make no mistake about people who leap from burning windows. Their terror of falling from a great height is still just as great as it would be for you or me standing speculatively at the same window just checking out the view; i.e. the fear of falling remains a constant. The variable here is the other terror, the fire’s flames: when the flames get close enough, falling to death becomes the slightly less terrible of two terrors. It’s not desiring the fall; it’s terror of the flames. And yet nobody down looking up and shouting ‘Don’t!’ and ‘Hang on!’, can understand the jump. Not really. "You’d have to have personally been trapped and felt the flames to really understand a terror way beyond falling." That resonated with me" an invisible illness where the pain becomes unimaginable " me being a borderline and also having cyclothymia I understood fully. It's extremely sad but also reality for some people that's why we have to truly end the stigma behind invisible illnesses these illnesses are just as painful to live with than people thats than terminally Ill with cancer for example or AIDS or MND or MS . The fact of the matter is this ?people with mental illnesses are terminally Ill and should be shown the same level of compassion and understanding . David Foster Wallace sadly succumbed to the same silent killer he wrote about. R.IP David Foster Wallace.
